At the Rotary International District 5960 Conference, held April 24-26, 2014, the New Brighton Mounds View Rotary Club received a zone level award for completing ten literacy related projects during the 2013-14 Rotary year.  District awards are presented to clubs completing at least five literacy projects.  Zone awards are given to clubs completing at least ten projects.  Here is the list of New Brighton Mounds View Rotary Club literacy projects:
  1. Scholarship for seniors at local high schools
  2. Contribution to Camp RYLA (Rotary Youth Leadership Award)
  3. Contribution to Camp Enterprise
  4. Planting trees with 4 local elementary schools on Arbor Day
  5. Contribution to Guatemala Literacy Project
  6. A Club meeting program by school board members and district superintendent of Mounds View District
  7. Youth Exchange (We send one student to Italy and receive one student from France)
  8. A club meeting program by an Eagle Scout candidate for a park project. We also made contributions to his project.
  9. Niger global grant project (computers and teacher training)
  10. Contribution to CPY (Community Partners With Youth), which provides after school activities for youth
