In preparation for hosting the farewell pizza party for Robin on Monday, June 9th, Mark gave us a crash course on Napoletana Pizza, and the region in Italy where it originated.  Napoletana pizzas are baked for only about 90 seconds at a blistering 800 degrees.  Although they can be baked in a conventional oven, a special wood-fired oven adds to the ambience and the fun and Mark currently has two mobile ovens.  As Mark tells the story, he suggested to Linelle that a girlfriend or a sports car might be a remedy for his mid-life crisis and, after some negotiation they settled on pizza ovens.  Mark showed us how he constructed the ovens, weighing a ton each, on military surplus trailers.  The ovens are designed to look like volcanoes and caution is advised, since they may erupt at any time after the pizzas are baked.  Mark also led us on a photo journey of the sights and foods of the country that inspired his pizza obsession.  REMEMBER, ROBIN'S FAREWELL PIZZA PARTY IS MONDAY, JUNE 9th, 6PM at Lampman's (1521 Stinson Blvd, New Brighton)
